The Collection
Consider it an effect of working with museum clothing collections for four years. The garments here are part of my own small historical clothing collection, mainly specific to the 1890s, my favorite fashion decade. I have referenced these garments extensively when it comes to understanding historic dress construction–nothing beats actually holding a garment in hand for serious study. Due to their age, each garment “lives” in an archival-grade storage box stuffed with tissue paper, to prevent further stress of the fabrics.
The garments I currently have are in varying conditions, and come with their own unique stories. Note, they are not for sale–but, I’m happy to share the interesting insights I’ve gained from them here!
